Pranayama

The word pranayama is composed of two Sanskrit words – Prana (life force / vital energy / breath) and Ayama (extend / control). Pranayama therefore means the control or extension of the life force or breath.

Benefits of practicing Pranayama:

  • Reduced breathing and heart rate
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Improved physical health as a result of increased oxygen delivery to organs
  • Improved memory and concentration
  • Increased awareness of breath
  • Increased sense of mental clarity and inner peace
